The EU forces to Barça and Madrid to give back state helps

To FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and five clubs of Spain more (FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia, Athletic of Bilbao, Osasuna, Elche and Hercules), has fallen them a sanction of the European Union by which will have to give back to the State the respective helps and subventions that received by part of the public organisms, when understanding the EU that this comports a "disloyal competition" regarding the other clubs.

The European Commission has approved the sanctions to these seven Spanish clubs when considering that they benefited " unfairly in front of others" owing to the state helps, and has issued a communiqué from Brussels in which it has left clear that "Spain has to recover the amounts of the illegal state helps of the seven beneficiarios, to know: FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia, Athletic of Bilbao, Osasuna, Elche and Hercules".

"Use the money of the taxpayers to fund to clubs of professional football can falsear the competition. The professional football is a commercial activity in which it is at stake a lot of money. The public funds have to fulfil the norms of loyal competition and, in the present case, the subventions investigated did not fulfil them", has added the responsible commissioner of Competition, Margrethe Vestager.

Regarding the Real Madrid, the return rises to 18,4 million euros because of the cession of terrains between the Real Madrid and the City council of Madrid, whereas Valencia, Hercules and Elche have to give back 20,4 millions, 6,1 millions and 3,7 millions respectively by the guarantees awarded by the Valencian Institute of Finances by loans conceded to these three clubs of the Valencian Community. The FC Barcelona will have to credit 5 million euros.
