FIFA VIRUS: Dani Olmo ruled out of Switzerland-Spain match due to injury
All alarm bells are ringing again at FC Barcelona after confirming Dani Olmo's absence for the Switzerland-Spain match in the Nations League. The Barça player has not recovered and joins the long list of injured players in the Blaugrana team
The 'FIFA virus' has claimed a new victim and FC Barcelona is living with the utmost concern about its second absence from the September international break. On Saturday, the midfielder did not train with Spain and it is now official that he will miss the match against Switzerland in Geneva (20:45 CEST) and, as happened with Fermín López (with the U-21s), he could return injured.
The possible loss of Dani Olmo is a serious threat for Barça taking into account the complex schedule that awaits the team after the break. Hansi Flick's team will play 7 games in 3 weeks, 5 of them away from home. At the moment, Dani Olmo is being a transcendental factor in the German coach's scheme, helping to unleash the Barça's offensive power in just a couple of appearances. Therefore, his possible absence for the duel against Girona (next Sunday) would be a sensitive blow for the Catalans.
The international break could undoubtedly become a very serious problem for Barça, which has a full infirmary and is aggravated by the fact that there will also be international matches in October and November.
