The COI will postpone the Olympic Games and already assess three alternative dates

The COI has announced in the last hours that will postpone the celebration of the Olympic Games of Tokyo, programmed for this summer, because of the coronavirus and with the new date still for deciding
The growth of contagions largely of the countries of the world, with the main focus in Italy and Spain, has caused that the International Olympic Committee (COI) see forced to take decisions that did not expect in the last weeks. The Olympic games of Tokyo 2020, programmed to celebrate during this summer of 2020 (of 24 July to 9 August) will postpone , as well as the Paralímpicos (25 August to 6 September).
The new dates will know in a month, and from the committee organiser of Tokyo 2020, the COI and the Japanese Government already stir until three alternatives of minor to greater impact. The first option would be to delay them so only some months, until October of 2020, although it could be a solution half. The main doubt is if for then the crisis of the coronavirus will be surpassed to global level, since if it is not like this would be necessary to find new dates.
Another alternative, and for the moment the one who earns greater strength, is the one to postpone the Olympic games to the summer of 2021. This option would give margin to go back to the normality and would remove pressure to the sportsmen, that have seen ruined his sportive preparation by fault of the closing of installations. Besides, it would give the sufficient time to contest the tournaments of pending classification.
The big problem of this alternative is that 2021 will be a year where numerous modalities have fixed his World-wide and tournaments, by what delay the Olympic games to 2021 would involve new delays derived in the calendar. A lower evil, in any case, sight the current situation.
No descarta that the JJOO of Tokyo are in 2022
Finally, it would be the option to postpone the Olympic games until summer of 2022. Delay them two years would allow to give much more time to the countries of all the world to control the COVID-19 and, besides, to find a global vaccine. Like this, there would be greater problem regarding movement of public and could reprogramar preolímpicos. The summer of 2022, on the other hand, is free of big competitions.
The negative point of this option is that the sportsmen that had fixed the Olympic games of 2020 like his last participation could arrive very just, deportivamente speaking, to the dispute of the tournament two years later.
