The impact of Pep Guardiola in England, according to Xavi

In an interview conceded in Doha to the organisers of the World-wide of Qatar 2022, Xavi Hernández has showed convinced that the new trainer of the Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, will transform the mentality of the football in English from the next campaign. "It is a big opportunity for him in the Manchester City. I think that it will change the mentality of the English football", signals.

"If there is somebody able to change this mentality is Guardiola. It will be a big opportunity that will comport a lot of pressure, because always it expects the best of Pep. He is definitely one of the best trainers of the world in this moment". Xavi Hernández remembers that Pep Guardiola is an obsessive technician with controlling all the details, and that does not doubt in carrying out constant talks with his players.

"Pep Guardiola always is thinking in football, is an obsessive of the details, loans them a lot of attention. We go on speaking of regular form and chat on football". Xavi, besides, remembers that the style of game implanted by Pep Guardiola is copying now in other clubs around the world, independently of the country that was.

"There are a lot of teams here in Qatar that have done his the philosophy of the Barcelona and of the selection, even teams like the German, that plays to a style of attack with command of the possession of the balloon. A lot of trainers here are working this style", says Xavi.

Finally, Xavi has defended to Qatar of the criticisms that receives. "My message is that the people would have to come and see the country. The people speaks of Qatar without having been here. They have to come and know to the people, are good people, that give a lot of importance to the sport. I have known to the people that decides in Qatar and really are charming people. It would say them those that speak badly of Qatar that avenge to visit it".
