De Ligt, after rejecting Barça: "I chose the best option"

The past summer, Matthijs of Ligt turned into the central defence pretended by the FC Barcelona​. The Dutch, with hardly 19 years (now has 20), dazzled in the Ajax showing the ideal qualities for a central of the Barcelona team, resembled the ones of Gerard Hammered, by what considered him his ideal successor. Nevertheless, the young player decided by the Juventus of Turín, that paid 85 millions by him.

Taking advantage of the confinement by the coronavirus, Of Ligt conceded an interview in the channel of YouTube Foot Truck in which it recognised that, although his adaptation to the Italian team has not been easy, considers that it decanted by the best election. "Had long to choose between the teams that wanted to me, but this was the best option for me", said the footballer, that refused to the Barça.

"Cristiano did not convince me for fichar by the Juventus"

The Dutch ensured that had time for meditar his decision, that went finally the one to leave to the Italian champion. "The past season played in the Ajax, won the prize Golden Boy and went in Turín where received it. It was the first time that travelled with my girlfriend out of the country, that is to say, before signing with the Juventus. Afterwards I had long to think and joined me to the club finally", said.

The young defence admitted that it spoke with Cristiano Ronaldo, although it was not the Portuguese the one who convinced him of fichar. "Ronaldo spoke me and went a big honour. But it did not convince me to come to the Juventus. When I went in for the first time, I felt me like a boy in a shop of sweets. It was Buffon, Ronaldo... After two months felt that it could be I same", commented.

Of Ligt, however, admitted to have not had a simple adaptation. "They said me that the reason by which hired me was because they thought that it was mature and knew how handle the pressure. Of course, there are similarities between the Italian football and Dutch, but always is different. At the beginning it was difficult, had a lot of eyes put in me", manifested.

An adaptation complicated

The Dutch felt a big pressure in his first meetings. "The negotiation between Juve and Ajax lasted a lot, arrived later that the other and without training had to play against the Tottenham in turns it in Asia. After twenty minutes cost me breathe.
