Athletic Club denies contacts with Barça for Iñigo Martínez

The name of Iñigo Martínez follows on the table in the dispatches of the FC Barcelona to reinforce the defence of the team of face to the next season. The defender of the Athletic Club finalises his agreement on 30 June 2023 and wants to look for an exit in the market of signings like free agent after six courses in Saint Mamés, to where arrived in a controversial signing from the Real Sociedad.

Jon Uriarte, president of the Athletic Club, conceded an interview to the program 'BilboSport' where reviewed the actuality of the club and, also, the one of the future of one of the defensive leaders of the team. "It goes to play with normality this season because it is a player importantísimo. It would like us that it could develop his sportive career in the Athletic", explained the maximum leader of the Basque entity.

Uriarte Also added that "these subjects, in any case, treat them home". In spite of the interest of the Barça by the central, that already comes of does years, the president of the Athletic ensured that "I have not spoken with anybody of the Barça" on the central, remarking besides that "are generating some surroundings where the footballers can be to taste".

In this sense, Uriarte left clear that "do not have any problem to speak with the players in any renewal. If there is a footballer that try to retain and leaves will suppose a disappointment, no a failure because it also influences if this person wants to remain or no, the capacity salarial to compete and the personal conditions".

Situation for resolving

Iñigo recognised recently that it had "not affected him a lot" his no signing by the Barça. The club blaugrana bid by him during the window of transfers of summer offering 15 million fixed euros more five in variables, but the operation did not receive green light by part of the Athletic. Nevertheless, next summer it could land in the Camp Nou like free agent.
