FC BARCELONA NEWS Cover for Thursday, August 21, 2025: <\/strong>FC Barcelona and Frenkie de Jong have reached an agreement in principle to renew the Dutch midfielder’s contract until 2028, with the possibility of extending it for one more year depending on his performance. The current link, which expired in 2026, will be extended for two additional seasons as a sign of the club’s commitment to the player in its future project.<\/p>

The negotiation gained momentum after De Jong’s change of representative, a key move to unlock the renewal. Sebastien Ledure, his new agent, held a final meeting with Deco, Bar\u00e7a’s sporting director, to close the remaining loose ends. The official announcement is imminent and only bureaucratic details remain to be finalized for the expected signing.<\/p>
