The S\u00e3o Paulo native also managed the Copa Am\u00e9rica, where he only secured 1 victory in 4 appearances (lost to Uruguay on penalties in the quarter-finals).<\/p>  <p>Previously, <strong>Ram\u00f3n Menezes (3 matches) and Fernando Diniz (6 matches)<\/strong> took charge of the &#8216;scratch&#8217; during 2023, with very poor results. Brazil is currently fourth in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup with 21 points, the same as Uruguay and Paraguay, but ten behind the leader Argentina.
