Last Monday, at the National Theatre of Catalu\u00f1a, Aitana Bonmat\u00ed was honoured with the Creu de Sant Jordi<\/strong>, one of the highest distinctions awarded by the Generalitat. This award, established in 1981, not only recognises sporting achievements, but also their impact on Catalan identity and culture.<\/p>

By receiving this prestigious recognition, Aitana joins a select list that includes legends such as Johan Cruyff, Leo Messi and her partner Alexia Putellas, reaffirming the relevance of football in the cultural fabric of Catalonia.<\/p>

During her speech, Aitana shared her emotion and pride at being awarded such a significant award.<\/p>

\u201cFor me, It is an honour to be here, collecting this important award. Those who know me know that I have always had a feeling of belonging to our land, Catalonia, and to its language, and that is why it is very exciting\u201d, said the visibly moved player.<\/em><\/p>

In addition, she stressed that this recognition not only celebrates her career, but also the collective achievements of women’s football, an area where barriers continue to be broken thanks to figures like her.<\/em><\/p>
