Barça delivered a new blow of authority in La Liga with the thrashing of Valencia (6-0), achieving so far the biggest win of the Flick era without Lamine Yamal available

Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona completed their most complete match of the season against Valencia. In addition to the thrashing (6-0), the team displayed the offensive football and the suffocating pressure in the opponent’s field that gave such good results in the 24/25 season. And, most meritorious, they did it with up to five casualties due to injury, including their great figure, Lamine Yamal.

The ’10’ was, by far, the best of Barça in the first three matchdays of La Liga, but he could not be available on Sunday due to an injury in the pubis. Roony Bardghji was chosen to replace him and, after a discreet first half by the Swede, Raphinha took over in the second half with a brace.

The Brazilian, along with Fermín López and Pedri González, was differential for a Barcelona that, although it dominated the match from beginning to end, lacked forcefulness in the first 45 minutes. The result at halftime was 1-0, but in the initial 21 minutes of the second half the difference increased to four goals thanks to the braces of Rafa and the player from Huelva.

Towards the end, Robert Lewandowski finished the job with another pair of goals. In total, Barcelona shot 24 times, 10 of them on target. In addition, they reaped 73% of possession, with a passing effectiveness of 90%.

Although the ‘culés’ did not have Yamal’s explosiveness on the side, Fermín’s shots, his mobility and Raphinha’s depth destroyed the rival defense in the second half. Barça showed that they can win, please and thrash without their star, leaving behind the ‘Laminedependencia’ characteristic of recent months.

The player from Mataró produced 13 goals (9 goals, 4 assists) in his last 12 appearances with the ‘azulgrana’ team. In turn, he participated in 32.5% of the total goals (40) scored by Flick’s team in that period (May-August 2025).
