The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF<\/a>) approved several changes to the format of the Copa del Rey<\/a> in its last assembly. Starting next season, the four teams that qualify for the Spanish Super Cup<\/a> will be in a separate pot in the draws for the round of 32 and round of 16.<\/p> This avoids early clashes between the four Super Cup semi-finalists, which in 2026 includes the matches between FC Barcelona<\/a> and Athletic Club<\/a> in the first semi-final, while Real Madrid<\/a> and Atl\u00e9tico de Madrid<\/a> will define the second finalist.<\/p>
