Fluminense<\/strong> and Borussia Dortmund<\/strong> did not hurt each other in the opening of Group F of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025<\/a>. At MetLife Stadium, both teams did not make a difference in a 0-0 draw that can only be explained by the offensive ineptitude of both sides and by a monumental effort from Gregor Kobel<\/strong>, who responded with meritorious saves to several of the very dangerous plays generated by ‘Flu’.<\/p>

The first 20 minutes of the match were quite even, although little by little the balance tilted in favor of the Cariocas. The Brazilians gradually took the measure of the Germans, managing the actions of the match through possession and a lot of criteria in their offensive advances<\/strong>. Dortmund’s reaction and dangerous counterattacks from Fluminense<\/h2>

Dortmund<\/strong>‘s reaction came at 32’, with Julian Brandt<\/strong> receiving a pass in the left sector and executing a shot on goal, contained by goalkeeper F\u00e1bio<\/strong>. Although the action was disallowed for offside, it was a sign of rebellion from the Germans, who were being overwhelmed.<\/p>

It was not until 63′ that Borussia Dortmund<\/strong> showed a glimpse of reaction, with a distant shot from Marcel Sabitzer<\/strong> that did not represent a greater danger for the Brazilian goalkeeper. Although still far from their best version, the Germans were beginning to show signs of improvement.<\/p>

Draw with a bitter taste for Fluminense in the Club World Cup<\/h2>

Apart from an authentic bombshell from S\u00fcle<\/strong> at 93′, which demanded goalkeeper F\u00e1bio<\/strong> with a providential stretch \u2014in what was the last relevant occasion of the match for Dortmund<\/strong>\u2014, the German team, seeing that the result was escaping them, tried to put the accelerator in the last minutes, but with little effectiveness, in a duel where there was more impetus than precision.
