The Provincial Court of Madrid ruled against the appeals filed by UEFA, LaLiga, and the RFEF against the European Super League project. Now, Real Madrid promises actions to claim “damages and losses”<\/h2> \r\n

Section number 32 of the Provincial Court of Madrid<\/strong> dismissed the appeals filed by UEFA, LaLiga, and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) against the European Super League project. In that regard, the ruling urges UEFA and FIFA to “cease their anti-competitive behavior from their dominant position<\/strong>” and sides with Real Madrid to continue its ‘war’.<\/p>

The ‘White House’ had already obtained a favorable ruling from the Commercial Court number 17 of Madrid. In that sense, the club issued a statement<\/a> announcing the implementation of new measures to “claim the considerable damages suffered<\/strong>” from 2021 to date for promoting the creation of the Super League.<\/p>

Madrid also claims to have held multiple meetings with UEFA, without reaching “any commitment regarding more transparent governance<\/strong>, financial sustainability, protection of players’ health, and improvements in the fan experience.”<\/p>

UEFA ratifies its opposition to the Super League despite the ruling of the Provincial Court<\/h2>

Once the ruling of the Provincial Court of Madrid was released, UEFA, through one of its emissaries, assured EFE that this ruling “does not validate the abandoned Super League project announced in 2021, nor does it undermine UEFA’s current authorization rules,<\/strong> adopted in 2022 and updated in 2024, which remain fully in force.”<\/p>

Furthermore, the highest body of European football assures that it will continue to fight this and any other “separatist” project that threatens the continental competitive ecosystem<\/strong>, as recently ratified by the European Parliament.<\/p>

UEFA also clarifies that it will examine the ruling in detail to decide on future legal actions to implement. From now on, the possibility of filing an appeal before the First Chamber of the Supreme Court<\/strong> is open for the next 20 days.<\/p>

LaLiga Also Rejects a ‘Yes’ to the Super League<\/h2>

In the same vein, LaLiga EA Sports<\/a> issued a statement to express its respect for the ruling of the Provincial Court, although it assured that this only refers to “procedural aspects<\/strong>“. That is, the Court does not endorse the Super League nor does it refer to the viability of creating alternative competitions, it only urges the organizations involved to respect the rules.<\/p>

In this regard, Javier Tebas<\/strong> stated on his ‘X’ account that LaLiga remains open to analyzing “any proposal that respects the principles promoted by UEFA.” “What we will not do is give blank checks to projects that put the balance of football at risk<\/strong>,” the president of the employers’ association pointed out.<\/p>

Real Madrid is now virtually alone at the head of the Super League project, but Florentino P\u00e9rez<\/strong> will exhaust all possible avenues until UEFA and FIFA agree with the project, of which FC Barcelona is still a part. The Azulgrana club, however, has improved its relations with UEFA and is very close to returning to the European Club Association<\/b> (formerly ECA).<\/p>
