Wednesday’s matchday in the UEFA Champions League left no room for surprises. The latest finalists, PSG and Inter, started with victories, as did the always candidates Bayern and Liverpool.<\/h2> \r\n

Atl\u00e9tico de Madrid<\/strong> had a complicated debut in the UEFA Champions League<\/strong>. The ‘colchoneros’ fell at Anfield against Liverpool<\/strong> (3-2), one of the four favorites that debuted on Wednesday. Paris Saint-Germain<\/strong>, Bayern Munich<\/strong> and Inter Milan<\/strong> also added the three points, in the case of the Italians away from home.<\/p>

In Merseyside, Arne Slot’s team woke up ‘Aleti’ early with two goals in the first six minutes<\/strong>, scored by Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah. Diego Simeone’s team seemed headed for a brutal thrashing, but reacted with a goal from Marcos Llorente in the third minute of added time.<\/p>

Liverpool had several opportunities to finish the game on the counter-attack, several of them wasted by Ekitike and Salah himself. In the 81st minute, Llorente made it 2-2<\/strong> taking advantage of a shot that surprised Alisson. Despite having all its ‘gal\u00e1cticos’<\/a>, the ‘reds’ once again failed to deliver in the game, although they managed to win in added time with a header from Van Dijk.<\/p>

Others who also did not fail in their debut in the league were PSG and Inter. The current champion of Europe<\/a> thrashed Atalanta<\/strong> in Paris (4-0) with goals from Marquinhos, Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes and Gon\u00e7alo Ramos. Bradely Barcola, even, indulged himself in wasting a penalty before the break for Luis Enrique’s team.<\/p>

Ivan Juric’s team was totally outplayed and has not taken off since the departure of Gianpiero Gasperini. Another who had a Champions League debut to forget was Ajax<\/strong>. John Heitinga’s team could not save even a draw in Amsterdam against the ‘nerazzurri’ team (0-2). The brace from Marcus Thuram<\/strong>, in the 42nd and 47th minutes, settled the match.<\/p>

For its part, in Munich, Bayern defeated the brand new world champion, Chelsea (3-1)<\/strong>, with a remarkable display of good football. Vincent Kompany’s team dominated the match from start to finish and, with goals a brace from Harry Kane<\/strong> (one from a penalty) and another own goal from Trevor Chalobah. Cole Palmer<\/strong> scored for the ‘blues’, who had a goal disallowed by VAR at the end.<\/p>

On matchday 2, the Bavarians will visit Pafos, while the London team will do the same against Benfica at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool, on the other hand, will go to Galatasaray’s field and Atl\u00e9tico will host Frankfurt. In the case of Atalanta, they will face Bruges in Bergamo, while PSG will travel to Catalunya<\/a> to face FC Barcelona.<\/p>
