The UEFA Champions League already has its four semi-finalists for the 2024-25 edition. FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal will be looking for their place in the final in Munich on May 31, with the ‘Azulgrana’ team as the main favorite to win the title<\/a>. The ‘Cules’ are looking for their sixth ‘Orejona’, while Inter is going for their fourth crown.<\/p>

The French and English, on the other hand, have never won the trophy, although PSG is the only semi-finalist that repeats from the previous season. Inter was runner-up in 2023, while Bar\u00e7a had not reached the ‘semis’ since 2019<\/a>. A decade earlier, Arsenal did it for the last time (2009), in a season in which the Catalans won the Champions League and the treble.<\/p>

That season, curiously, was the last without the presence of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Liverpool<\/strong> among the four contenders for the title. Next, we review the path of the four semi-finalists and all the details about the qualifiers to be played from Tuesday, April 29 to Wednesday, May 7.<\/p>

Bar\u00e7a-Inter was the semi-final of 2009-10, the season of the last success in the tournament for the ‘Nerazzurri’. The Italians advanced to the final in Madrid after an intense and controversial tie (3-2)<\/strong>, and then took the trophy against Bayern Munich (2-0).<\/p>

This season, the ‘Azulgrana’ team was second in the league phase with 19 points, the same as Inter, but with a better goal difference.<\/p>

Hansi Flick’s team fell in their debut against Monaco<\/strong> (2-1), but then added 6 consecutive victories against Young Boys<\/strong> (5-0), Bayern Munich<\/strong> (4-1), Red Star<\/strong> (2-5), Brest<\/strong> (3-0), Borussia Dortmund<\/strong> (2-3) and Benfica<\/strong> (4-5) to secure their qualification for the round of 16.<\/p>

In the last matchday, the ‘Cules’ drew with Atalanta<\/strong> (2-2). Already in the round of 16, they had to face Benfica<\/strong> again, with two ‘Azulgrana’ victories (0-1 and 3-1).<\/p>

In the quarter-finals, Bar\u00e7a thrashed Dortmund<\/strong> in the first leg (4-0), enough advantage to secure their qualification despite falling in Germany (3-1). Barcelona leads the tournament in attack, with 37 goals in 12 games<\/strong> and an impressive average of 3.08 goals per game.<\/p>

However, they have the weakest defense of the four semi-finalists, with a total of 17 goals conceded.<\/p>

Inter, on the other hand, boasts the best defense in the tournament<\/strong>, with only 5 goals conceded in 12 appearances. Simone Inzaghi’s team debuted with a draw at Manchester City<\/strong> (0-0) and only conceded one goal in the league phase, in the defeat against Bayer Leverkusen<\/strong> on matchday 6 (1-0).<\/p>

Previously, the Italians defeated Red Star<\/strong> (4-0), Young Boys<\/strong> (0-1) and Arsenal<\/strong> (1-0). Sparta Prague<\/strong> (0-1) and Monaco<\/strong> (3-0) could not beat an Inter that, in the round of 16, comfortably surpassed Feyenoord<\/strong>, winning both games (0-2, 2-1).<\/p>

In the quarter-finals, the ‘Nerazzurris’ faced the always dangerous Bayern<\/strong>. The 1-2 in the first leg in Munich allowed them to advance to the ‘semis’, although the return leg was much more complicated (2-2), with the Bavarians about to send the tie to extra time at the end.<\/p>

            The ‘Gunners’ lead the competition in victories (10) and have eight wins in a row<\/strong>, including the thrashings of PSV<\/strong> (1-7 in the round of 16) and Real Madrid<\/strong> (3-0 in the quarter-finals).<\/p>

            The team led by Mikel Arteta debuted with a goalless draw against Atalanta<\/strong> in Bergamo, but on matchday 2 they dispatched Paris in London (2-0)<\/strong>. Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka scored the goals for the victory in the first half.<\/p>

            The team reacted by thrashing Salzburg<\/strong> (3-0), City<\/strong> (4-2) and Stuttgart<\/strong> (1-4) to get into the ‘play-off’.
