FC Barcelona is preparing for one of the great challenges that remain for the close of the 2024-25 season: the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, which will be played on April 26 at the La Cartuja stadium (Seville). This commitment is not only key to keeping the dream of the Treble alive, but also represents a very special moment for a good part of the Barça dressing room.
A total of 12 players from the first team could play in a Cup final for the first time:
Added to three others with a reserve team card:
It should be remembered that Iñaki Peña and Ansu Fati were part of the team that played and won the last Copa final of FC Barcelona in the 2020-21 season (4-0 victory against Athletic Club at La Cartuja), although neither played minutes. The Alicante goalkeeper was a substitute for Marc-André ter Stegen and the left winger was not called up due to injury.
A similar case is that of Ferran Torres, who already has a Copa del Rey in his record with Valencia CF (2018-19), precisely in a final won against FC Barcelona (1-2), although he did not play either.
Beyond the three players with a reserve team card, of the 12 mentioned, 11 first team players could lift their first national Cup. Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati and Iñaki Peña are excluded from this list, and the following are added:
Apart from the debutants, Barcelona has experienced players in national cup finals with other teams:
All, except Eric García, have had minutes in those won finals.
Although currently injured, Robert Lewandowski also brings experience. The ‘9’ from Warsaw has played and won national Cups with Borussia Dortmund (2011-12), Bayern Munich (2015-16, 2018-19 and 2019-20) and Lech Poznan (2008-09).
As for the Barça players who have played the Copa del Rey with the FC Barcelona jersey, the cases of Marc-André ter Stegen, Pedri González, Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo stand out. They do know what it is to live an instance of this type, and the best of all: to win it. These players were part of the victory against Athletic Club (4-0) in the 2020-21 season, which to date remains the last Cup that the Barça team has won.
It should be especially mentioned that both Frenkie de Jong and Marc-André ter Stegen have experience winning more than once in national competitions. The German goalkeeper, in particular, has lifted four other Copas del Rey with Barça (2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18), while the Dutch midfielder won a Cup in 2018-19 with Ajax de Ámsterdam.
With a mixture of youth and experience, Barcelona arrives at this cup final with a cohesive and competitive group. The objective is clear: lift their number 32 Copa del Rey and keep the dream of the Treble alive, which will already have a step overcome if this trophy is added.

FC Barcelona will play the final of the Copa del Rey with several debutants, some with no experience in this instance with the club, but with experience in other national cups FC Barcelona is preparing for one of the great challenges that remain for the close of the 2024-25 season: the Copa del Rey final […]

[446,118
53,46
post-8002","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-copa-del-rey-2","category-copa-del-rey","tag-el-clasico","tag-fc-barcelona-vs-real-madrid
