Andreas Christensen opened up about his future at Barcelona in an interview with the Danish magazine ‘Tipsbladet’. The center-back insists on renewing with Bar\u00e7a and, for now, rules out a ‘plan B’<\/h2> \r\n

FC Barcelona<\/strong> has not yet defined the future of Andreas Christensen<\/strong>. The 29-year-old defender is one of the players whose contract ends in 2026 and, at the moment, there is no progress regarding his renewal<\/strong>, although the ’15’ is open to negotiating a new contract. Hansi Flick<\/a><\/strong> counts on him, but the club does not see his permanence clearly.<\/p>

First, because since his arrival at Bar\u00e7a in 2022, he **has not been an undisputed starter**. Second, because **his recent injury history** raises doubts about the future. Christensen missed almost all of 24\/25 due to muscle problems and has only started three times this season.<\/p>

In an interview with the local magazine ‘Tipsbladet’, the Danish international, once again called up by his national team for the closing World Cup qualifiers (against Belarus and Scotland), made it clear that, **for now, he does not feel worried about the future**. In this regard, he considers that the relationship with the board is “good”<\/strong> and, now, he rules out having a ‘plan B’ related to his renewal<\/a> or signing with another club as a free agent in 2026.<\/p>

“I hope everything ends up being renewed, but I have no idea, not yet. I prefer to focus on being part of the team and playing as much as I can. **Now I have to see what happens. If there’s something to do, of course I’ll do it**,” he stated when discussing the terms of a potential new contract.<\/p>

Currently, Christensen earns around 9 million gross per season<\/strong>, a considerable salary for a player who is not a regular starter. The board values his professionalism and willingness to stay, but prefers to wait before making a decision.<\/p>

If the ’15’ becomes an important piece for Hansi Flick’s rotation plan, it will be more feasible to offer him a contract extension. If, on the other hand, **he remains in a residual role, it will be most sensible to let him go on a free transfer**, just as he arrived from Chelsea in 2022<\/p>
