Barça already have the ‘OK’ from LaLiga to replace Ter Stegen with Szczesny. The Polish goalkeeper will arrive in Spain on Monday to sign his new contract

The signing of Wojciech Szczesny by FC Barcelona, pending official confirmation, is already a fact. The Blaugrana club received the final ‘green light’ from LaLiga to be able to activate article 77 of the Regulations for the Preparation of Budgets for Long-Term Injuries, complying with the existing protocol in the employers’ association within the 30 days that the club has to be able to register a new player since Ter Stegen was seriously injured in Villarreal.

This is reported by ‘Mundo Deportivo’, where they assure that Can Barça sent LaLiga the medical report that justifies the long-term injury of the German goalkeeper, which forced him to undergo surgery and, practically, say goodbye to the season. The employers’ association transferred all this documentation to the four members of the Medical Commission and each of them, individually, has made their opinion giving the ‘OK’ to this period of absence proposed by the Catalans.

With the approval of the doctors belonging to the Commission, LaLiga has immediately proceeded to give the go-ahead to the option of signing the Blaugrana institution. In this way, Barça can now register a new player by making use of 80% of Ter Stegen‘s salary, a scenario that allows them to register Szczesny until the end of the current season.

Szczesny will arrive in Barcelona on Monday

As things stand, the idea of the culé entity is that Szczesny lands this coming Monday, September 30 in Barcelona to undergo the medical examination and even sign his new contract with the club before the end of the day. In addition, the former Juventus goalkeeper will be in Montjuïc on Tuesday, October 1 to watch the Champions League duel against Young Boys.

On the other hand, the Pole will begin a special ‘pre-season’ to get back into shape after being out of retirement for more than two months and it is hoped that he will be available to Hansi Flick after the international break. That means that the goalkeeper could be called up for the match against Sevilla on October 20.
