The UEFA Champions League 2025/26 concluded the fifth matchday of the league stage on Wednesday, with better luck for Spanish clubs. Atlético and Real Madrid struggled to defeat Inter Milan (2-1) and Olympiacos (3-4), respectively. Two results that allow the capital's teams to take a key step towards direct qualification for the round of 16.
In Greece, a 'poker' by Kylian Mbappé rescued the 'merengues', who for now are fifth in the general standings with 12 points. Atlético, for their part, reached 9 units thanks to a last-minute goal by José María Giménez, in the 90+3'. Inter, despite the defeat, remains fourth.
In London, Arsenal won the clash of leaders against Bayern (3-1). Timber, Madueke, and Martinelli scored the goals with which the 'Gunners' take sole leadership with 15 points, while the Bavarians now fall to third place. Atalanta's victory was much more comfortable, thrashing Barça's next opponent, Eintracht (0-3) with three goals in five minutes (60-65').

Total Debacle for Liverpool, Triumphs for PSG and Sporting
At Anfield, Liverpool accentuated their crisis and freefall with another thrashing. This time it was PSV who were the executioners of Arne Slot's team (1-4), in a match where the Dutch side took an early lead with a penalty from Perisic in the 6th minute. Szoboszlai equalized before halftime, but a brace from Till in the second half and another goal from Driouech in stoppage time left the 'Reds' KO'd.
Another resounding result occurred in Paris. PSG came from behind against Tottenham (5-3) in a great match at the Parc des Princes. Richarlison and Kolo Muani put the 'Spurs' ahead on a couple of occasions, but a hat-trick from Vitinha and two other goals from Fabián Ruiz and Pacho gave Luis Enrique's side the three points.
The reigning European champion is now second with 12 points. In Lisbon, Sporting did their homework by thrashing Brugge (3-0), a result that allows the Portuguese team to enter the TOP-8 with 10 units. Earlier, Pafos and Monaco drew in Cyprus (2-2), while Copenhagen secured their first victory in the 25/26 against Kairat (3-2)
