FC Barcelona fell in their second presentation in the UEFA Champions League 2025/26, this time as locals in Montjuïc against Paris Saint-Germain (1-2). Lamine Yamal, out due to injury against Newcastle, debuted with the number '10' in the top European competition at 18 years, 2 months and 80 days old.

In September 2021, Ansu Fati did the same at 18 years, 10 months and 333 days old in the defeat against Benfica (3-0) in the group stage of 21/22. For the player from Mataró, the debut with the mythical number on his back was also bitter, as Hansi Flick's team also failed to beat PSG.

Lamine Yamal could not prevent Barcelona's defeat against Paris

On Wednesday, Lamine started the match against Luis Enrique's team in the same way he entered in the second half of the Liga match against Real Sociedad: totally unleashed on the right side.

The '10' pulled off a roulette to leave three rivals behind with the first ball he received, filtering a pass that Ferran Torres finished first time with little angle. The winger again enabled the 'Shark' in the 14th minute with an exquisite pass with the outside of his right foot.

The player from Foiós, despite leaving goalkeeper Chevalier stranded, could not score because central defender Zabarnyi managed to deflect his shot on an empty goal on the goal line. Five minutes later, the '7' would have revenge in a move started by Yamal himself.

Vitinha, pressured by the player from Rocafonda, failed a pass on the way out. The Barça forward recovered and passed the ball to Pedri, who did the same enabling Marcus Rashford on the left. The Englishman did the same with a cross pass to Ferran, allowing the Valencian to finish at will with his right leg.

Barça could not maintain the lead until half-time, but Lamine reappeared in the 42nd minute, provoking a clear foul by Nuno Mendes with which the full-back earned a yellow card. Already in the second half, the '10' once again created danger with an overflow on the right in the 61st minute.

Mendes knocked him down on the edge of the area, but the main Michael Oliver kept the second yellow card, forgiving the expulsion of the Portuguese. Yamal himself took charge of the free kick, with a shot that went very high. In the final half hour of the match, Barcelona lost depth in attack and the Azulgrana game was diluted along with the impact of the '10' culé on the field.

Lamine obtained another record of precocity in the Champions League

Hansi Flick's changes with the entry of Robert Lewandowski and Alejandro Balde did not improve the offensive work of a Catalan team that ended up losing the match by a goal from Gonçalo Ramos in the 90th minute. The Portuguese was in a dubious position, but the linesman and VAR validated the goal.

Despite the defeat, Lamine Yamal took another record from the match, becoming the youngest player to reach 24 matches in the Champions League. The previous record was held by Zaïre-Emery, who was also a starter with PSG in Montjuïc.
