Paris Saint-Germain once again soured things for FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. On Wednesday, Luis Enrique's team added three golden points in their visit to Montjuïc (1-2), a result that confirms the Parisian team as the new 'black beast' of the Blaugrana in Europe. At least in matches played on Catalan soil.

Barça, in addition, had not lost their first home game in the Champions League since 21/22 (0-3 against Bayern), something that had not happened so far during the move to Montjuïc. The record at the Estadi Olímpic, in fact, has been favorable for the 'culés' since 2023.

And, in 13 appearances, the balance is 9 wins, 2 draws (against Atalanta and Inter) and 2 losses. Paris, in fact, was the only team capable of celebrating in the 'magic mountain' during the last two years.

PSG has not lost in Barcelona since 2016: three consecutive victories

In that sense, PSG already has three consecutive victories as a visitor against Barça, two of them at the Lluís Companys. In the quarterfinals of 23/24, also with 'Lucho' on the bench, the Gauls eliminated the Blaugrana team with a thrashing (1-4) conditioned by the expulsion of Ronald Araujo in the first half. 

That day, Ousmane Dembélé, Vitinha and Kylian Mbappé (double) scored the goals for Paris. On Wednesday, with 'Dembouz' injured and 'Kiki' at Real Madrid, the French did the same thanks to the goals from Senny Mayulu and Gonçalo Ramos.

Previously, in February 2021, Paris had also thrashed Barcelona by the first leg of the round of 16 of 20/21 (1-4). Mbappé, with a 'hat-trick' and Moise Kean practically sealed a tie that ended with a global score of 5-2.

Before that thrashing, in five visits, PSG only added a couple of draws (1994, 2013) and three defeats (2014, 2015, 2016), the last of them the historic 6-1 in the return leg of the round of 16 of 15/16, with Luis Enrique still on the Blaugrana bench. Since then, the Gauls have dominated the record, which already favors them with 7 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses in 16 matches.

Most away wins in the Champions League against Barça

  1. Bayern Munich: 4 (1998, 2013, 2021, 2022).
  2. Paris Saint-Germain: 3 (2021, 2024, 2025).
  3. Juventus: 2 (2003, 2020).

In this way, PSG is only one victory away from Bayern Munich (4), with the Bavarians being the team that did the most damage to Barça on Catalan soil. The Munich team took the victory from the Camp Nou in the group stage of the 98/99, 21/22 and 22/23 seasons, in addition to the return leg of the semifinals of 12/13.

Juventus, for its part, has also won on more than one occasion in the 'culé' temple. They did so in the return leg of the quarterfinals of 2002/03 and in the group stage of 20/21, the latter a result that led the 'culés' to face PSG in the round of 16.
