Refused the proposal of Benedito to build a Camp Nou of zero

Agustí Benedito ensured that, to result elect like president of the FC Barcelona, would build a new Camp Nou, but his option would be to demolish the current stadium

The City council of Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona) descartó this week the proposal of the precandidato to the presidency of the FC Barcelona, Agustí Benedito, to build a new Camp Nou in the city. "It does not fit in the model of city by which works the City council", ensured Belén García, first deputy mayor and manager of the Area of Territory.

Benedito Ensured that to result winner in the presidential elections of the Barcelona institution on 24 January, will build a new stadium, and aimed that his team already is working in two options that can serve of location for the new enclosure: "An option is to throw to the floor the Camp Nou and build the new right there while we play during three years in the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. The second is to do it in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper", situated in Sant Joan Despí.

Belén García, first deputy mayor and manager of the Area of Territory, signalled in a communiqué that the proposal presented by Benedito "does not fit in the model of city by which works the City council, based in improving the quality of life of the neighbours, with equipments, green zones and services to his scope".

Likewise, it alleged his intention of not interfering with the electoral process with the FC Barcelona, but considers that the construction of a sportive enclosure of such envergadura, would be "a negative impact in the city". Besides it highlighted the "grave problems" of mobility and parking that could comport the new Camp Nou in Sant Joan Despí.

"Without wanting to interfere in the process electoral of the FC Barcelona, the municipal administration considers that infrastructures like these would have a very negative impact in the city, from the point of view urbanístico, of mobility and of the welfare of the neighbours of the new residential sector that is developing at the side of the Barcelona installations", prays the communiqué.

Benedito, course to the presidency of the institution culé

The proposal to do a new Camp Nou results attractive for all. However, the possibility to remain without stadium by three years causes fear, although it seems to be the most likely option to be elect Benedito.

The architect Benedetta Tagliabue said in press conference accompanied of the precandidato: "it is an error reform Camp Nou with structures very ancient. In 20 years will have to do a new stadium because it will not be of the best, there will be more comfort". By his part, Benedito aimed: "The new Palau Blaugrana and the new Camp Nou will not cost less than 900 million euros".
