FC Barcelona has won its 32nd title of Copa del Rey after defeating Real Madrid in a thrilling final. In addition to the trophy, the Barça club secures an economic prize of 1.2 million euros, a modest prize compared to other competitions.

The Copa del Rey prize: official figures

According to the RFEF, FC Barcelona will receive 1.2 million euros for being crowned champion of the Copa del Rey 2025. This figure corresponds to the distribution established by the television rights of the competition.

How are the revenues distributed?

  • Of the approximately 33 million euros generated by audiovisual rights, 90% goes to professional football and 10% to amateur football.

  • Within professional football, 90% corresponds to clubs in Primera División and 10% to those in Segunda.

  • Half of the distribution for Primera is distributed equally, guaranteeing a minimum of 660,000 euros per club.

The RFEF manages revenues of 33 million euros from the television rights of the Cup, a figure that is distributed among the participating clubs.

However, the vast majority of the money has a clear destination: the teams of professional football account for 90% of the total amount (29.7 million euros), while the remaining 10% is allocated to amateur football and the more modest teams that compete in the tournament.

Within the distribution for professional clubs, the difference between the two main categories of Spanish football is also notable. The teams of Primera División take 90% of the 29.7 million, that is, 26.73 million euros in total.

This amount is divided equally among the 20 clubs of LaLiga EA Sports, thus guaranteeing an important economic injection just for their participation in the competition. Meanwhile, the teams of Segunda División must settle for the remaining 10%.

This system seeks to balance the finances between the participating teams, although the prize for the champion is considered modest compared to other competitions.

Comparison with other tournaments

As a reference:

  • Winner of the Spanish Super Cup: up to 9 million euros.
  • Champion of the Champions League: can exceed 100 million euros adding prizes and market pool.

Therefore, although lifting the Copa del Rey represents enormous sporting prestige, its economic impact is relatively limited for entities such as Barça.

A title of enormous symbolic value

Apart from the economic prize, the victory has an incalculable value for FC Barcelona. With this triumph, the Barça club adds its 32nd trophy of Copa del Rey, consolidating itself as the most successful team in the history of the competition.

The conquest of the Cup also reinforces the sports project of the entity in a season of transition marked by changes in the squad and in the coaching staff.
