The board of FC Barcelona has sent the necessary documentation to the City Council to receive the first occupancy license for the north stand of the Spotify Camp Nou. Before the end of the year, Hansi Flick's team was able to play five matches, four in the League and one in the Champions League, at the stadium with 45,401 seats available in the first two levels of Tribuna and Gol Sud.

Now, the goal is to open the Gol Nord before Barça's next home game. The stadium has shown the stand behind the north goal completely empty in matches played in November and December, while work continues on the third tier. The objective now is to have the two lower tiers fully operational and to renovate the area designated for the Animation Stand

Furthermore, the opening of the Gol Nord will allow for the completion of phase 1C of the project, increasing the stadium's capacity to 62,000 spectators. Unlike the initial occupancy license for phase 1A, both phase 1B (45,401 seats) and 1C (62,000) are simpler to process, as the Barça stadium is already fully operational in terms of security and access.

Tentative Date for the Opening of the Gol Nord at Camp Nou

The calendar, fortunately, gives Barça enough leeway to reopen the North Goal in time for Flick's team's next home game. The Barcelona team will not return home until the weekend of January 24-25, for matchday 21 of LaLiga against Oviedo (time and date to be confirmed).

The Catalans will play the next two league matchdays away from home, against Espanyol (January 3) and Real Sociedad (January 18). In between these two matches, the team will travel to Arabia to play in the Spanish Super Cup. Likewise, the opponent in the Copa del Rey round of 16 is yet to be determined, where Barça will once again visit a lower-division club

This way, the *culés* still have four weeks ahead before their next home match. The board's objective is to have the Gol Nord operational against Oviedo or, failing that, for the last matchday of the league phase of the Champions League, against Copenhagen.

The match is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, one week after the visit to Slavia Prague (Matchday 7). These will be Barcelona's only home games in January. In February, there will be another couple of league matchdays at Camp Nou, while awaiting confirmation of whether Flick's team advances in the Copa del Rey and whether they will have to play the Europa League knockout round of 16.

FC Barcelona's upcoming home games:

  1. January 24 or 25: vs Real Oviedo at Camp Nou, LaLiga matchday 21.
  2. Wednesday, January 28: vs Copenhagen at Camp Nou, Champions League matchday 8.

Ferran Torres celebrating his goal against Athletic

So far, the Blaugrana team has played five matches at the Estadi since its official reopening on November 22. The record is perfect, with a full sweep of victories and a balance of 14 goals for and only 3 against.

The most comfortable victory so far was on the opening day at Les Corts (4-0 against Athletic), while the tightest win came in the Champions League against Eintracht (2-1)

So far in the 25/26 season, Hansi Flick's team has only lost one home game (1-2 against PSG) and has 11 home wins, a couple of them at the Johan Cruyff (both in the League) and another four at Montjuïc (three in the League, one in the Champions League).
