FC Barcelona announced the incorporation of offensive midfielder Lovro Chelfi this Tuesday (July 29), from Kustosija. In principle, the player would be destined to land in Juvenil A, as a bet for the future, although there is also the possibility that he will have minutes with Barça Atlètic.

Although the Catalan entity did not reveal the economic details of the operation, according to 'SPORT', the Blaugrana team disbursed around 300,000 euros to acquire 50% of the midfielder's rights. This is Barça's second signing in less than 24 hours after the announcement of Roger Martínez.

If the bet on Lovro Chelfi develops as planned, the total cost of the operation could rise to 2 million euros. In addition, Barça has a period of two years to exercise the option to buy the remaining 50% of the federative rights, currently in the hands of the Croatian club. Likewise, he arrives after playing 11 games, between the first team of Kustosija and the under-19s and with 1 goal scored in the 2024/25 season.

Barça facilitates Lovro's stay in the Condal City

Barcelona, in its intention to make the player feel comfortable and at home, has made available to him an apartment near the Ciutat Esportiva Johan Cruyff.

In this way, the Blaugrana team closes a new strategic signing for its lower categories, in its plan to continue capturing pearls that, if they exploit their potential in the best way, may later reach the first team.

Lovro Chelfi's link with Barça is not recent. His relationship with the Catalan club dates back to 2018, when, at just 11 years old, he participated in a campus organized by the Barça Academy in Velika Gorica, a town near Zagreb.

At that time, the native of Zagreb was the player who most impressed the representatives of the Blaugrana institution, so the player's talent is not something unknown to the sports management of Barça.

Roger Martínez, another addition to Barça's reserve team

Midfielder Roger Martínez arrived at Camp Barça after rescinding his contract as a player for Espanyol, a team that told him that he was not in their plans for the next season.

Martínez signed for two seasons (2027) as a Barcelona player. It should be noted that he played the 2024/25 season on loan with Club Deportivo Lugo of Primera RFEF.

In this sense, if both players end up making life in Barça Atlètic, the Blaugrana team would have closed two strategic incorporations, since during this summer market players such as Pau Prim, Noah Darvich or Diego Soma left the club, weakening the midfield area of the reserve team.
