FC Barcelona announced this Wednesday (July 30) that it has reached a strategic agreement for four years with the Democratic Republic of Congo. This agreement contemplates different aspects that will benefit both the club and the African nation.
As part of this alliance between the Catalan institution and the Government of the DRC, the club will incorporate a special badge. Until the 2028/29 season, Barça will wear the emblem "RD Congo – Coeur de l'Afrique" on the back of their training shirts, as a sign of commitment and collaboration.
In addition, the Democratic Republic of Congo will become a Global Partner of the Blaugrana entity, under the official denomination of "Partner for empowerment in sports and culture".
Through the Barça Academies, a program of sports activities will also be created and developed for the children of the region, who will be able to enjoy different sports with this initiative.
Of course, from this agreement Barça will be able to obtain economic benefits that will evidently help to improve the limiting economic situation that the club currently manages.
Barcelona secures an economic injection of 40 million thanks to its alliance with the DRC
Although the club did not announce the figures of this agreement, various media point out that it will receive around 40 million euros in four years, for which, annually, around 10 'kilos' will enter the club's coffers.
It should be noted that in the agreement between the Blaugrana institution and the DRC, the cultural issue also has a fundamental part, since it becomes part of the Espai Barça, because, in the new facilities of the Spotify Camp Nou, the house of the DRC will be enabled, an immersive exhibition designed to receive visitors to the stadium.
Thus, the institution has managed to transform the Espai Barça into a key source. It is expected that, with this ambitious project, the club has secured around 370 million euros, which will be distributed in two major ways.
The distribution will be as follows: 43.6 million annual and recurring from sponsorship agreements linked to the assets of the Espai Barça, and 331.1 million in guaranteed contractual income (Contractual Obligated Income) signed for the coming years.
Barça-DRC, an agreement to get closer to the 1:1 rule
In this context, the agreement between Barça and the Central African country allows the Catalan club to take a firm step in its roadmap to stabilize its finances.
In this way, as advanced by the sports vice-president Rafa Yuste, Barcelona was working intensely on the activation of new sources of income that would allow it to advance towards its main economic objective; that is, to operate under the 1:1 rule and be able to work normally during the summer transfer market.
