CAT celebrates its first anniversary today since Fútbol Club Barcelona officially unveiled it during the Club's 125th-anniversary celebrations. Twelve months later, the Barça mascot has established itself as an identity element that has won over the Barça fans, connecting with both young and old thanks to its character, symbolism, and constant presence in the social life of Barça supporters.
From its birth on November 29, 2024, the Club committed to a figure capable of representing values of inclusion, emotion, and belonging. One year later, CAT is already a fundamental part of the fan experience, present at matches, institutional events, cultural initiatives, and social campaigns.
CAT Celebrates Its First Year as a Symbol of FC Barcelona
The 'CAT' presentation coincided with a moment of historic celebration for Barça. Inspired by the native Catalan wildcat, the mascot's design incorporated elements of the crest and the blaugrana colors, reinforcing the bond with Catalan culture and the Club's roots.
From its first day, CAT quickly integrated into the routine of the team and the fans. It has been present at all home games of the men's first team, both at Montjuïc and the Estadi Johan Cruyff, and, of course, at the return to the Spotify Camp Nou. Its role has not been limited to symbolic presence: its interaction with the stands, especially with the youngest, has become a distinctive feature.
Constant presence in teams, sections, and major Barça events
CAT has not only accompanied the first team. He has also been a regular face at Barça Femenino matches, both at the Johan Cruyff and on emblematic trips like the Champions League final in Lisbon. Likewise, he has actively participated in the life of the sections, cheering at 98 matches at the Palau Blaugrana and traveling to Cologne for the Handball Final Four.
His figure has become an emotional bridge on match days, greeting families, sharing moments with fans, and representing the spirit of "més que un club" wherever he appears. Furthermore, CAT has played a prominent role in numerous institutional events, contributing to reinforcing the Club's closeness with its social base.
Digital Impact: A Social Media Phenomenon
CAT's growth has also been digital. Its official Instagram and TikTok profiles have accumulated hundreds of thousands of followers in a few months, with videos reaching millions of views. Its charisma, its fun appearances, and its role as a Barça ambassador have consolidated its own space within the global community
Furthermore, CAT's presence has served to connect with new generations and to project the Club towards young audiences, which are key in today's digital ecosystem.
CAT: A Cultural Ambassador of Catalonia and Barcelonismo
The name CAT not only alludes to the animal that inspires it but also to the international abbreviation for Catalonia. With this, the mascot has become a symbol of Catalan identity that has participated in some of the most emblematic traditions: it signed books for Sant Jordi, participated in the tradition of the Christmas log, and made its own Easter cake
He has also been seen at music festivals, popular activities, and major sporting events, including the Catalunya Formula 1 Grand Prix. In all these contexts, CAT has brought humor, approachability, and a touch of magic that have made him a recognizable figure for the Catalan public and the rest of the world.
The CAT Collection: a direct link with Barça families
In April 2025, the Club launched the CAT Collection, an official line of clothing, accessories, and toys that has been very well received, especially among families and children. With this initiative, Barça reinforced the mascot's presence in the daily lives of fans, consolidating a new emotional symbol within the Barça universe.
The collection has also served to expand the Barça brand globally, thanks to products that combine design, identity, and the natural appeal of the mascot.
