Fútbol Club Barcelona has ruled out Fermín López and Iñigo Martínez for the last friendly of the Asian tour against Daegu FC. Both players withdrew from training due to minor discomfort and, barring any setbacks, will be available for the official start of the 2025/26 season.

Fermín and Iñigo miss the end of the Barça tour due to minor discomfort

Fútbol Club Barcelona will face the last match of its Asian tour without Fermín López or Iñigo Martínez. Both players were withdrawn from previous training sessions due to minor discomfort and the coaching staff has chosen not to risk their participation in the friendly against Daegu FC.

Iñigo Martínez was the first to leave the session after just a few minutes of work. The central defender was suffering from muscle fatigue and the club's doctors considered it more prudent to stop his activity to avoid a possible injury of greater severity. In his case, he had already missed the second match of the tour against FC Seoul for the same reason.

For his part, Fermín López suffered a slight blow to the knee during the previous training session. Although he started the last session in South Korea, he ended up withdrawing as a preventive measure. The club has stressed that there is no worrying diagnosis and that the decision was made to ensure his recovery for the start of LaLiga.

No official medical report, but with good prospects

So far, Fútbol Club Barcelona has not issued any official medical report on the condition of Fermín or Íñigo. However, internal information points to minor discomfort, and if the evolution in training next week is favorable, both should rejoin normally.

Both the coaching staff and the medical area agree that the decision to rule out the two players for the match against Daegu responds solely to precautionary criteria, and not to structural problems or muscle injuries of consideration.

Positive performance on the Asian tour

During the 2025 Asian tour, Fermín López was one of the most outstanding players for Barça. He participated as a starter in the match against Vissel Kobe and showed his versatility acting as an attacking midfielder, winger and false nine. His ability to associate and his offensive presence were highly valued by Hansi Flick and his coaching staff.

Iñigo Martínez, on the other hand, had a more limited participation. He played 45 minutes in the first friendly in Japan and was not lined up in the second match in Korea. His increasing muscle load forced the club to stop his activity, prioritizing his recovery for the official commitments that are coming up.

In condition for the start of the season

Despite these occasional absences, both Fermín and Iñigo maintain firm options to be available for the start of the 2025/26 season. Everything will depend on their evolution in the next training sessions, although the club is confident that there will be no complications and both will be in the squad for the league debut.
