Dani Olmo, focused with the Spanish national team for the World Cup qualifying matches, spoke this Monday on the Tot costa de Catalunya Ràdio program. The midfielder from Terrassa responded to the words of Hansi Flick, who after the draw in Vallecas warned about the "egos" in the dressing room of Fútbol Club Barcelona.
The player wanted to downplay the controversy, insisting that the team is united and focused on collective goals: "Flick already spoke about the issue of egos in the Vallecas dressing room on Sunday night. He always talks to us after the matches. There is no problem. We can be better or worse, but the goal is collective," said Dani Olmo, downplaying a possible internal conflict.
Ambition Intact in the Barça Squad Despite the Draw in Vallecas
The former Leipzig player emphasized that the draw against Rayo (1-1) should not be exaggerated or trigger alarms, assuring that the team maintains the maximum ambition. The '20' of Barça recalled that they come from a great year and want to repeat it.
Dani Olmo: "We maintain the maximum ambition. We come from a great year with Barça and this year we want to repeat it. A draw should not create a circus. We are a young team and not all matches will go as we want. There is no concern. We must improve and we know what our objectives are. There is no problem."
The midfielder pointed out that the team is aware that it must improve, but defended that the mentality of the dressing room remains the same as last season: hunger for titles and commitment to the project of Hansi Flick.
Dani Olmo: His Position and Ambitions in Flick's Barça
In the first three LaLiga matches, Dani Olmo has accumulated two substitutions and one substitution. Even so, he said he feels valued but acknowledged that he would like to play more minutes, start more times and not be substituted regularly.
"Do you feel like a starter? (Dani Olmo) I feel important. In such a long season, with so many competitions and matches, it is important that we are all connected and competition helps, always. I seek more continuity, like all players. It is important to have it, physically and for sensations. It is the goal. I need minutes and to play."
With these words, the Barça midfielder made it clear that his personal ambition does not clash with the collective good, aligning himself with the philosophy that Flick demands within the FC Barcelona dressing room.
Support for Fermín López and Praise for Joan Garcia
Olmo also referred to two of the prominent names of the start of the season: Fermín López and Joan Garcia. Regarding the former, he celebrated that he remains at the club despite interest from Chelsea: "He is a very important player for the group and a great friend within the dressing room."
As for the former Espanyol goalkeeper, who has surprised with key saves, he highlighted his immediate impact: "I have been surprised, yes, although I already knew the level of goalkeeper he is. I am sure that he will give us many joys this season."
Olmo Sends a Message of Unity in Terms of the Future
The statements of Dani Olmo to the "Tot costa" program of Catalunya Ràdio reinforce the message that the coaching staff wants to transmit: the season is long and demanding, and only with cohesion and collective commitment will they be able to revalidate titles in LaLiga and take a step forward in the Champions League. "The objective is common and we all know it; players and coaching staff. There is no concern," insisted the Spanish international.
With this intervention, Olmo contributes to deactivating any rumor of internal division and puts the focus on what is truly important: to continue growing as a group in a year in which Barça seeks to consolidate Flick's project and keep alive the illusion of the culé fans.
