Pablo Gavi remains sidelined from the FC Barcelona squad due to his discomfort in his right knee. The midfielder, almost certainly, will also not be available against Valencia, although the club, for now, has not yet confirmed a specific injury to the Andalusian's meniscus.

The physical problems of the player from Los Palacios y Villafranca reappeared just before the match of matchday 3 of LaLiga, against Rayo (1-1). The 21-year-old player was left out of the squad in Vallecas and was also removed from Luis de la Fuente's list for the matches against Bulgaria and Turkey.

In a chat with 'El Larguero' on the 'SER' network, the Spanish coach revealed his concern about Gavi's physical condition. The midfielder is once again dragging problems in the right meniscus, this time in the internal part of the area operated on in 2023.

Luis de la Fuente anticipates another possible surgery for Gavi

"He is awaiting a possible intervention. These are things of life and football. I spoke to him this morning. He is sad, worried, waiting to see if the meniscus intervention is carried out or not," De la Fuente began by saying.

However, he was also positive regarding the character of the Barça player to overcome his physical problems. "But he is a very strong player with a lot of character. It is from these situations that one truly comes out stronger," argued the coach.

Gavi was out for almost a year after undergoing surgery on the cruciate ligament of his right knee, with a suture on the external meniscus. Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, a specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology, was in charge of the operation at the Hospital de Barcelona.

Now, the Andalusian player will initially undergo a conservative treatment to overcome the discomfort in his knee. Otherwise, an arthroscopy would be necessary to clean the sutured meniscus. This would keep the '6' in the Barça infirmary for around a couple of months.

Barça will not make hasty decisions with Gavi

Beyond Luis de la Fuente's, for now, not very optimistic outlook on the physical condition of the Spanish international, Barça prefers to be cautious with the evolution of the midfielder. If the footballer's condition does not improve in the coming days, the option of going to the operating room again will gain strength.

If, on the contrary, Gavi manages to train normally in the week to come, Hansi Flick will take him into account again, hopefully, for the debut in the Champions League against Newcastle, on Thursday, September 18. At the moment, the player from Los Palacios y Villafranca has played 66 minutes against Mallorca (he gave an assist in the second half) and Levante.
