Gavi is flying in training. The midfielder of the culé team is working hard every day in the gym and on the pitch to recover as best as possible from the complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee that he suffered many months ago. The player's intention is to return better than before and he is working very hard for it. The doctors and the board of directors of Barça are surprised by his progress and it is even estimated that he could return before the deadlines established at the beginning of his knee problem.
His presence is not expected for the start of LaLiga on August 17, but if he continues with the same evolution, it is not ruled out that the Barça number 6 could reduce a few weeks upon his return, scheduled for November. This situation, although it is quite positive for Flick, also puts him in a big bind, due to the large number of players he has in the midfield.
What will Flick do with Gavi?
Right now, Flick has plenty of options to create a solid midfield with players like Fermin, Gündogan, Gavi, Pedri and the youngsters Marc Bernal and Marc Casadó. Frenkie de Jong is also on the payroll, but the Dutchman could leave the team this summer, especially since the German boss does not have him in his plans.
The former Bayern Munich coach is excited about the recovery of the youth player, because he knows that he can be a key piece in his starting eleven. Gavi can play as an inside midfielder, an attacking midfielder and even operating one of the double pivot positions. This last option seems interesting for the 19-year-old player, in case the culé team does not manage to sign a central midfielder.
Likewise, Hansi Flick could opt for Marc Casadó or Marc Bernal, two of the biggest 'pearls' of the culé reserve team. The former will be part of the first team from next season, while the latter will have to take advantage of the preseason to convince the German and be an alternative in the Barça midfield. The truth is that everything seems to indicate that the player from Los Palacios y Villafranca will not have to worry about anything: his place in the team's starting eleven seems to be assured.
