The wait is over for FC Barcelona. The Azulgrana team no longer has any impediments to officially debut their first kit of the 2025/26 season.

It's worth remembering that in the first two matchdays of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26, the Culé squad was forced to play with what served as the third kit of last season. The lime green one.

The reason? Both against RCD Mallorca at Son Moix and against Levante UD at the Ciutat de València, according to the official kit selection application, Kit Selector, and the final choice made by the match director —who validates the combinations—, none of the three new shirts passed the filter due to chromatic coincidence with that of their rivals. To avoid visual confusion in television broadcasts, the Barcelona team had been prevented from debuting their official kits for the 2025/26 season.

Nike and FC Barcelona, eager to show off the new kit

This situation had also generated some discomfort in both Barcelona and Nike, as all sectors, including the Azulgrana fans, were hoping to see the Catalan team wearing one of their new shirts as soon as possible. Kits that have barely been seen, except for the third kit in orange, during the 2025/26 preseason.

The first shirt appeared in the matches against Vissel Kobe, Daegu FC, and in the 2025 Joan Gamper Trophy against Como 1907. Meanwhile, the special edition in collaboration with Kobe Bryant was worn in the match against FC Seoul.

The official debut of the Azulgrana shirt will be against Rayo

Finally, any uncertainty about the official debut of the main uniform has been cleared. LaLiga has approved its use for matchday three, in the match against Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas, next Sunday, August 31.

On that Sunday of football, Hansi Flick's team will wear their spectacular new Azulgrana shirt, with gradients and a slight purple coloration that crosses the stripes diagonally, as there is no risk of confusion with the local team's kit —white with a large red stripe—, which allows the new skin of the Barcelona team to finally see action in official competition.
