During the regular meeting of the board of directors of FC Barcelona held this Tuesday, the blaugrana leadership discussed the status of the works on the new Spotify Camp Nou and the possible alternatives for hosting home matches after April 23, the date when the agreement with the Ajuntament for the use of the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys expires.

One of the matches that would be affected is the Clásico on the weekend of May 11. The culés want and trust that they will be able to face Real Madrid at their blue and garnet home, but if they cannot meet this expectation, Joan Laporta would have decided that the match takes place at Johan Cruyff.

This is reported by 'SPORT', which states that the president's position is firm since, by that time, the team will be fighting for the LaLiga title and, therefore, it is essential that the match is played at home, in front of the Barcelona fans, who will play a key role from the stands.

Barça trusts that deadlines will be met

If it turns out to be unfeasible to play the Clásico in one of the stadiums owned by the institution, Laporta's 'plan B' would be to move to Montilivi, although this option is complicated since Girona is playing at home that matchday against Villarreal. With these bridges burned, the azulgranas would explore options outside the City of Barcelona, with alternatives like La Cartuja and Wembley in the background.

Beyond all this, the board of directors maintains confidence that deadlines will be met and the first phase of the renovation of Spotify Camp Nou will be ready by the end of April, with the Catalan venue fully prepared to host matches against Villarreal and Real Madrid for LaLiga.
