FC Barcelona welcomed back Lamine Yamal this Tuesday, after the Spanish national team confirmed his withdrawal from the squad for the matches against Georgia (11/15) and Turkey (11/18). Jorge de Frutos (Rayo) was called up to take his place on Luis de la Fuente's list for the last two matchdays of the World Cup qualifiers.
The Blaugrana '10' returned to the Catalan capital after the controversy between the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the National Team, and Barça over the club's request to release the player from Mataró. Lamine will undergo radiofrequency treatment this week, which requires a rest period of seven to ten days.
Barça opts for a new conservative treatment for Lamine Yamal
Therefore, he could not play with Spain, although he will be available for the match against Athletic, for matchday 13 of LaLiga. The national team did not take it well that Barça waited until Monday night to communicate Yamal's treatment, who had joined the Roja's training camp at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas on Monday afternoon
Barça, however, complied with the protocol of notifying the National Team about the treatment of the 18-year-old winger, which was authorized by the head of the club's medical services, doctor Ricard Pruna, along with Belgian doctor Ernest Schilders, who has extensive experience in addressing pathologies such as osteitis pubis.
This season, the Rocafonda player has missed 5 games due to his pubis discomfort. Furthermore, he only completed the full 90 minutes in 7 of the 16 matches played by Barça. Lamine has undergone specific training at the Ciutat Esportiva in recent weeks to deal with the pain and inflammation, factors that reduce his usual explosiveness in attack down the wing.
How does radiofrequency treatment work?
In this regard, the club has decided to take advantage of the November break, the last one in 2025, to subject the forward to radiofrequency treatment. This outpatient procedure consists of **applying electricity or heat to the affected area using special needles with X-rays** to relieve nerve pain.
The treatment, in turn, allows for a reduction in the use of painkillers for pain, in conjunction with physiotherapy and specific physical preparation, to avoid muscle overload. Lamine Yamal will rest for the entire week, once the radiofrequency is completed, and will return to work with the squad next Wednesday the 19th, with an eye on Athletic.
In his last three games, the Mataró player has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist, marking his best streak of the season. Next week, the Blaugrana team also expects to welcome back Joan García and Raphinha, both injured since the visit to Oviedo (September 25).
