Joan Laporta has assured this Monday that the return of Fútbol Club Barcelona to the new Spotify Camp Nou is closer than ever. The azulgrana president, interviewed on the program "El Matí de Catalunya Ràdio", stated that the stadium meets all the necessary guarantees and that “it can be played in”.

However, Laporta acknowledged that the final decision depends solely on the Barcelona City Council, which still has to issue the first occupancy certificate so that matches can be played.

The club is working against the clock so that the LaLiga match against Real Sociedad, scheduled for this Sunday at 6:30 p.m., can be played in the renovated azulgrana coliseum. If the authorization is not granted in time, the alternatives are the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys or the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

OK from La Liga and UEFA to play at the Camp Nou

Joan Laporta explained to Ricard Ustrell that Barça has completed all the required procedures. The president detailed that the construction company, the construction management, the independent certifier and organizations such as the Firefighters of the Generalitat and the Environment have already given their approval.

“La Liga has said it, UEFA has said it. You can play on this field”

Despite the confidence shown, the azulgrana leader was understanding of the council's caution. “These things have their process. We will do what they say, but hopefully they will give us the certificate as soon as possible”, he pointed out.

Joan Laporta stressed that returning to the Camp Nou would be a key step to recover a growing capacity and return to the fans the stage they have been waiting for so long.

Against Real Sociedad or will we have to wait?

The club's objective is for the return to take place against Real Sociedad. The decision, according to Laporta himself, should be known this afternoon, when the City Council is scheduled to announce whether it grants definitive authorization.

If the answer is negative, the return would be postponed to the next league match at home, scheduled for October 18 against Girona. In any case, the Champions League match against PSG, on October 1, will be played in a confirmed manner at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
