The technical staff of FC Barcelona is advancing a specific work plan with Marc Bernal. Hansi Flick understands that the 18-year-old midfielder is not yet physically ready to play every three or four days at the highest level and, therefore, has reduced his minutes with the first team, although the player from Berga has been training with the group since receiving medical clearance in early October.

To continue the 18-year-old player's recovery schedule, the Barça coaching staff authorized him to play a friendly match between Barça Atlètic and Juvenil A, as well as a friendly with Catalunya. In both cases, the '22' culé will complete a specific number of minutes, as he has been doing with the first team.

Bernal was out for just over a year after suffering a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and an associated injury to the external meniscus in August 2024. After Gavi's relapse, the coaching staff has reinforced Marc's care to avoid new problems with his knee.

Bernal will play a friendly match with Catalonia in Montjuïc

Coach Gerard López included Marc Bernal in the list of 22 players for the charity friendly between Catalonia and Palestine. The match will be played on Tuesday, November 18, in Montjuïc starting at 6:30 PM CEST, where the 18-year-old midfielder could start as a starter and play a maximum of 45 minutes.

López's list also highlights former Barça players Arnau Tenas and Pau Víctor, with Espanyol being the club that contributes the most players to the Catalan team (4). In principle, more than 20,000 people are expected to attend Lluís Companys on Tuesday afternoon.

In the current 255/26 season, Bernal has accumulated just 32 minutes spread across five matches with Barça. In his return against Valencia (6-0), he provided an assist, but since then, he has only had residual appearances against Oviedo and Celta. In the Champions League, he played ten minutes against PSG and Olympiacos.
