FC Barcelona has already made the transfer of Pablo Torre to RCD Mallorca official. The amount of the negotiation has not been revealed by either team, but, according to several sources, it was closed for around €5M net in exchange for 50% of his federative rights. In turn, the Azulgrana team has reserved both a buy-back right and a percentage of any future sale of the player from Soto de la Marina.

This operation, it should be noted, leaves a bittersweet taste in the mouths of Barcelona fans. On the one hand, it could be considered perfect in economic terms, considering that the player is being let go for the same amount that was paid to Racing de Santander in 2022 —five 'kilos'—, with the Catalan team saving the payment of most of the variables that could have raised the operation above €20M.

Likewise, the Barcelona club, in addition to receiving an amount that helps it improve its situation with respect to financial 'fair play', ensures a future profit if some of the conditions agreed upon in the transfer to RCD Mallorca are met.

Pablo Torre: a jewel that never quite fit in at Barça

On the other hand, there is that bitter taste of seeing a player with differential talent leave. A top-level midfielder, with excellent conditions:

  1. Creative
  2. Unbalancing in the last offensive third
  3. Technically very gifted
  4. Great game vision
  5. A precise passer
  6. A lot of ability to score goals

But, despite possessing all that quality, he never managed to establish himself in the first team. That, during the seasons he was at the club.

A player who comes from a 2024/25 season with Barça in which he did not have too many opportunities to show his game. But when he had them, he showed what he was made of. The feeling he left was clear: if he hadn't had players like Dani Olmo and Fermín López ahead of him, his role could have been much more prominent.

PABLO TORRE'S SEASONS AS AN FC BARCELONA PLAYER
COURSE TEAM P G A MIN. PLAYED
2022/23 FC Barcelona 16 1 2 583'
2023/24 Girona (loan from Barça) 29 1 2 802'
2024/25 FC Barcelona 14 4 3 421'

Should Barcelona have let him go already?

Did the Catalan team make the right decision by letting him go through a definitive transfer? Would a loan have been better, allowing him to gain continuity and return next season with more experience to compete for a starting position in the attacking midfield area? Only time will tell. For now, it seems to be an operation that generates mixed feelings among the Azulgrana fans.
