Lamine Yamal's talent continues to surprise locals and strangers alike at FC Barcelona. In a chat with 'SPORT', Marcus Rashford described the talent and personality of who is now his teammate in the azulgrana team.
"I haven't played or seen anyone with the impact he has on the game. Maybe Ronaldo Nazario, ‘The Phenomenon’", 'Rashy' began by saying about the '10' culé.
At 18 years old, the former Barça and Real Madrid striker was already a world champion with Brazil, although he didn't play a minute in the United States in 1994, although he was called up by coach Carlos Parreira.
In his only season with Barça, 96/97, Ronaldo scored 34 goals and 7 assists in 37 games. Inter Milan signed him in the summer of 1997, making the payment of his clause effective (4,000 million pesetas, 26.5 million current euros).
Rashford, surprised by the maturity of Lamine Yamal and the Barça squad
"Having that influence on the field being so young and so consistent is incredible", added the striker still owned by Manchester United. Lamine, unlike Ronaldo, won a European Championship at just 17 years old, being a starter and a figure.
In that sense, Rashford assures that the one from Rocafonda "Has a long career ahead of him and I hope he maintains his level and even improves". The comparison with 'El Fenómeno' arose when talking about his maturity, both on and off the field.
For Marcus, the azulgrana '10' "is far above his age", both in talent and personality. Therefore, he is excited to play alongside him and the rest of Barça's young talents.
"It's exciting to play with him and others too. It's stimulating to be in a dressing room with so many young people. It reminds me of when I was his age", Rashford pointed out. The Manchester player already played his first minutes in LaLiga and, this Saturday, he will seek to inaugurate his offensive records against Levante.
Lamine Yamal, going for his first recital against Levante
Lamine, for his part, made his debut with a goal and an assist in Mallorca and hopes to continue his remarkable streak this summer. Including the preseason, the 18-year-old striker has 5 goals and 2 assists in 5 games, that is, he has produced 30.4% of the team's goals (7 out of 23).
Last season, his best streak of consecutive League matchdays scoring was three, between the 35th and 37th against Real Madrid, Espanyol and Villarreal. Saturday will be his first duel against the Granota team, since the Valencians had not played in the First Division since 21/22.
