Roony Bardghji has realized his dream of playing with FC Barcelona. The Swedish footballer arrived from Copenhagen this summer and, although he signed with a reserve team contract, he is confident of earning a place as a substitute in the first team. In an interview for Barça One, the Kuwait-born player assured that he hopes to spend his entire career with the 'culés'.
"It has always been my dream to be here, so hopefully I can stay for many years, maybe my whole career if possible. I will do everything in my power to make it happen," said the 19-year-old about his expectations at the 'azulgrana' club.
In that sense, he valued the good relationship with Hansi Flick, a coach with whom he has managed to get along very well in his first two weeks training with the club.
"He's a good guy, he gets along well with all the players, he knows how to communicate, how to build relationships with us and I feel that it's growing every day," explained Roony. The Swede made his debut with a goal against Vissel Kobe, but had a discreet performance against FC Seoul.
Roony Bardghji reveals the keys to his adaptation with Barça
Regarding his debut, Roony described his first minutes in Japan as 'wonderful'. "Being able to score the first goal made it even better. And now, here, yesterday's match was also incredible: good stadium, good fans, many goals... a great victory," commented the Scandinavian footballer.
In addition, the right winger assured that, for the moment, the player in the squad with whom he gets along best is Marcus Rashford, logically because of the language (English).
"The teammates have been really good, they have taken very good care of me and I am enjoying every day as a Barça player. It is very nice to be on tour. I have had a very good connection with the dressing room," added Bardghji.
In principle, the Swede will be the direct replacement for Lamine Yamal on the right flank, although Raphinha and Rashford himself can play without problems in the '10' position when the coaching staff decides to give him a rest.
In this regard, Roony believes that the style of play implemented by Hansi Flick is ideal to develop his football. "I always tried to play in the same way, with the same philosophy that Barça has had; Hansi's style suits me very well. Honestly, I feel at home," said the Kuwait native.
"I have always been a Barça fan, so I always trained thinking about being able to play here one day"
Bardghji hopes to follow in the footsteps of Larsson and Ibrahimovic in Barcelona
Looking to the future, the 19-year-old striker is clear about his goal: to make history and try to win everything as a 'culé' player. "Hopefully I can leave the legacy of other predecessors of mine, such as Larsson or Ibrahimovic," he explained.
Of the two Swedish internationals, the first had the best luck at Camp Nou. Henrik arrived in Catalonia in 2004 and, although he was not an undisputed starter, he became an important piece for the team that won two Leagues and a Champions League with Frank Rijkaard on the bench.
Ibra, on the other hand, was only there in 09/10 and had to leave due to his bad relationship with Pep Guardiola. Despite this, he lifted a League, a Spanish Super Cup and three other international trophies in his only year with the Catalans. Will Roony Bardghji be able to earn a place in Barça?
For the moment, Flick is satisfied with his performance. Considering that the reserve team will play the 25/26 season in the Second RFEF, if the Swede does not convince the coaching staff, he would have to leave on loan before the closing of the summer market.
"I am very happy here. I try to spend as much time as possible with the guys to get to know them better and build closer relationships"
