The return of FC Barcelona to Spotify Camp Nou is getting closer and closer. According to the manager of the blaugrana team, Joan Laporta, it is expected that by the month of September the first team will play its first official matches in the stadium.

This has been known for a few days, but the president took advantage of his appearance before the media for his participation in the framework of the Senado Culé to ratify the information.

In this way, 'Jan', from the Auditori 1899, emphasized that his board wants the team to return to the venue - which will continue to be under construction - as soon as possible.  "We want to be in a 21st century stadium. This is not a remodeling, it is a completely new stadium. We want the players to be able to be there as soon as possible," Laporta pointed out.

On the other hand, Laporta also highlighted the importance of returning to the club's official stadium, due to the profits that playing at home will generate: "We didn't want to lose purchasing power and the Spotify Camp Nou will be key to generating income. That's why we are in a positive phase, not just a stable one," he said.

The Joan Gamper Trophy as the first test of the new Camp Nou

It is planned that the Joan Gamper Trophy will be played at the new Camp Nou facilities. This will act as a pilot test of access logistics and operability of the Estadi. It will also have a partial capacity for the 2025/26 season in all the competitions played by the team led by Hansi Flick.

This match, which will be played on August 10, will pit Barcelona against Como, an Italian league team managed by former azulgrana player, Cesc Fàbregas.

Initially there was talk of allowing access to 25,000 spectators, but according to the latest information, approximately 35,000 people will be able to enter the new stadium for this match, that is, 10,000 more fans than initially stipulated.

Similarly, it was expected that for the rest of the season Les Corts would reach 65,000 seats. However, Laporta in his statements lowered that figure to 60,000.

We will see how the stadium grows, which will initially have about 60,000 seats", said the highest authority of the club, who also shared that “the preference will be for those who have been in the Olympic Stadium for some season”, when asked about the sale of season tickets and tickets.

When will the work at Spotify Camp Nou be finished?

Work on the Spotify Camp Nou is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026, with the exception of the installation of the roof, according to Joan Laporta. It will be until then that the culé fans will be able to enjoy all the advantages that the stadium will offer when it is fully operational.

It should be noted that Barça and LaLiga reached an agreement for the first blaugrana team to play the first four matches of the 2025-26 season away from home. The next season will begin on the weekend of August 17.
