The FC Barcelona and the Real Madrid, main impulsores of the project of the Superliga, will have to expect until the next 21 December to know the dictamen of the Court of Justice of the European Union (TJUE) to the 9:30 of the morning. In this moment will know if finally they will be able to set up this project for the season 2024-2025, which carry years scheduling.

Both institutions reported to the UEFA and to the FIFA by possible abuse of dominant position in the market futbolístico European. Nevertheless, the general lawyer of the European Union assigned to this case, Athanasios Rantos, desestimó these indictments, arguing that the organisms did not incur in abuse of position when blocking the creation of an alternative tournament under the promise of sanctions.

Although the opinion of the general lawyer is not vinculante, in the majority of the cases the judges are used to to follow the line of opinion reflected in these previous verdicts. According to estimates of the 'TJUE', this occurs in 80% of the cases, by what is likely that influence in the final answer.

The sentence of the TJUE will be vinculante with the open case in Madrid

It is important to stand out that this sentence will be vinculante, that is to say, the failure of the 15 judges that will estimate the verdict will condition the answer of the Mercantile Court number 17 of Madrid. This court remitted initially the case to the Court of Justice of the European Union, after a complaint received by To22 and European Super League Company (the company in which they are involved the FC Barcelona and the Real Madrid). The judicial organ Spanish will restart the case once that the TJUE issue his dictamen and, with base in this, probably will give his verdict.

The CEO of the Superliga has the hope of a failure in favour

Bernd Reichart, of To22 Sports Management and CEO of the Superliga, expressed recently his optimism on the possibility that the sentence was favourable. It manifested: "The football of clubs is on the eve of a big change. We expect that the Court of Justice of the European Union put end to the monopoly of the UEFA and do to respect the fundamental freedoms of the European Union in the world of the football. The fans, the clubs, the players and the football would come off well in an open industry to the competition of ideas and proposals and in which the clubs could govern and organise a European competition without fear to threats".

It was cual was the result of this dictamen, it will be necessary to expect two months to know it. Further that this project has the backrest of several European clubs (although some have desvinculado), still does not know officially the format of the Superliga. However, To22 it mentioned in his moment that could be a tournament with several divisions, more than 60 clubs participants and a minimum of 14 duels and a maximum of 20 parties by group.
