Tito Vilanova will give name to the Trophy Maestrelli, that designates to the best European trainer. This award, that consists of two categories, the one of better Italian trainer and the one of better European trainer, will incorporate his name like recognition to his path

The Trophy Maestrelli is a prize that designates to the best European trainer and the best Italian trainer from the year 1988. The name of the trophy is a homage to the player and Italian trainer Tommaso Maestrelli, but from this year will incorporate the name of Tito Vilanova. The organisers of the trophy have taken advantage of the links of Vilanova with this prize to incorporate his name to the trophy. These links began in 2002 when the ex trainer of the Barça proclaimed champion with the cadet B of the Coppa Maestrelli.

The organisation has explained that they want to do a homage to Tito by his human quality and his path like trainer. "His results confirmed his devotion by the excellence in the football and, like Maestrelli, went a winner but at the same time a loyal person with values very simple and near to his players", figure in the motivations of the prize.

The first trainer in receiving the prize with this new denomination will be Diego Simeone, that has been chosen like better European trainer of 2013.
