AS Monaco is beginning to enjoy the rebirth of Ansu Fati. The player from Bissau took longer than expected to pick up competitive rhythm this summer, which meant he was left out of Adi Hütter's squad in the first four Ligue 1 matches.

However, after a goalscoring debut in the Champions League against Brugge (4-1), the forward on loan from FC Barcelona seems to be regaining the confidence that muscle injuries have robbed him of in recent years.

In his first French league match, Ansu came on at halftime for Paris Brunner. With the match tied (1-1), the Azulgrana youth player scored in the first action in which he participated, anticipating the Metz center-backs to push a cross from Lamine Camara from the right into the goal.

Ansu Fati's brace led Monaco's rout

The visitors equalized the actions in the 67th minute thanks to a penalty, but Fati returned the advantage to those from the Principality with another good finish, this time with a header. The newly entered player put a cross into the heart of the area and the '31' surprised the Metz defense again, with an unstoppable header for goalkeeper Fischer.

In 83 minutes, Monaco regained the lead and, towards the end, an own goal by Kouao and another goal by George Ilenikhena rounded off a 'manita' (5-2) with which the team turns the page on the tough defeat suffered in Bruges.

For the moment, those from the Principality maintain the perfect step in Ligue 1, with 12 points in 4 matches, behind Paris Saint Germain (by goal difference) and tied with Lyon and Racing de Strasbourg.

Barça is excited about Ansu Fati's good present

As such, Barça receives the good news of Ansu Fati's awakening, with the expectation of, hopefully, closing a definitive transfer next summer. The player from Bissau left on loan for one year, until June 2026, with a non-mandatory purchase option for 11 million euros.

Before closing his loan move, Barcelona renewed Ansu for one more season, until June 2028, readjusting his salary to reduce more salary margin with his departure. In 2023, Fati was also loaned to Brighton for one year, without much fortune due to some injuries and the little confidence of coach Roberto De Zerbi in him.
