European clubs are improving in the Club World Cup. Bayern Munich broke the South American unbeaten record; Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan added their first victories

The second matchday of the Club World Cup group stage is leaving better results for UEFA clubs. Despite Chelsea's surprising defeat against Brazilian Flamengo (3-1), the South American clubs left their unbeaten record on Friday thanks to Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians became the second team to qualify for the round of 16 (after Flamengo) after defeating Argentinian Boca Juniors (2-1). In front of a sea of 'xeneixes' fans in Miami, the Bavarians struggled more than expected to overcome a combative 'bostero' team.

Harry Kane put the Bundesliga champions ahead in the 18th minute, but Uruguayan striker Miguel Merentiel equalized in the 66th minute. In the end, Michael Olise sealed the German victory with a good finish in the 84th minute, after a poor second half from the Munich side.

With this result, Bayern has 6 points, a couple more than Benfica (4). In the last matchday, the Portuguese will face Vincent Kompany's team, knowing that a draw is enough to finish second. Boca (1 point) is forced to thrash Auckland and hope for a heavy defeat of the 'eagles' against the Bavarian team.

Dortmund and Inter 'revive' on Saturday

This Saturday, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan reacted in time to add their first victories of the tournament. The 'black and yellow' team suffered more than expected against Mamelodi Sundowns (3-4).

Niko Kovac's team started losing in the first half, but came back with goals from Nmecha, Guirassy, Jobe Bellingham and Mudau (own goal). The South Africans came close again with two more goals in the 62nd and 90th minutes, but the victory went to the Germans.

Now, Dortmund has 4 points and is leader, waiting for what happens between Fluminense and Ulsan. The Brazilians are coming from a draw in their debut against the 'BVB' (0-0), while the Korean team lost against Mamelodi (1-0).

Inter, on the other hand, also came back at the end against the other asian team in the World Cup, Urawa Red Diamond (2-1). The Japanese took the lead in the first half, but Lautaro Martínez and Valentín Carboni turned the score around in the 78th and 90+2 minutes.

Now, the 'nerazzurri' have 4 points, after drawing in their debut against Monterrey (1-1). The Mexican team will face River Plate, who comes from beating Urawa in the first matchday (3-1).
