Opta's 'Supercomputer' has given its favorites to win the next Club World Cup in the United States. No Spanish club appears on the podium of candidates
Opta's 'Supercomputer' already has its candidates to win the 2025 Club World Cup. The tournament that begins this Saturday the 14th (early morning of Sunday the 15th in Spain) with the match between Inter Miami and Egyptian Al-Ahly has Paris Saint-Germain as the top favorite, after their consecration in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.
The advanced statistics of the Supercomputer's calculations give the current European champion an 18.5% chance of keeping the trophy in the United States. The team led by Luis Enrique debuts next Sunday against Atlético de Madrid (9:00 PM CEST) and will face Botafogo (Brazil) and Seattle Sounders (United States) in their group.
In that sense, Paris has a 91.6% chance of passing the initial phase, while, looking ahead to the quarterfinals, its success rate is 75.4%. The Gauls are also the best-positioned team for the 'semis', with a 49.2% chance of qualifying. This percentage drops to 30.9% when it comes to reaching the final of the tournament.
PSG, City and Bayern, favorites to win the Club World Cup
In second place, behind Paris, Opta places Manchester City. Pep Guardiola's team did not win any title in 2024/25, but they are the current world champions after thrashing Fluminense of Brazil in the last edition of the tournament played with the previous format, in December 2023 (4-0).
The team led by Pep Guardiola has a 17.8% chance of winning the title, surpassing Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany's team, after regaining the Bundesliga title, boasts a 12.8% chance of winning the competition. The Bavarians were world champions in 2013 and 2020.
How do Opta's predictions work? The Supercomputer gives its predictions by simulating each competition 10,000 times, based on the odds of the betting market and the Opta Power Rankings, according to the historical and recent results of each participating team.
Hence, PSG, the brand new champion of the Champions League, is the main favorite, while Inter, after their tough defeat in the final in Munich, drops to fourth place among the candidates for the trophy. The 'nerazzurri' have a 12.3% chance of lifting the title.

Real Madrid, relegated to fifth place in Opta's predictions
Further back appears Real Madrid, in fifth place with just 9.8% probability. The 'merengues' won the extinct 'Mundialito' in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022, but their participation is a complete unknown after the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.
Xabi Alonso took over the leadership of the white bench this month and will have Dean Hujsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold as reinforcements, pending what happens with Álvaro Carreras (Benfica).
However, Opta only gives the 'Casa Blanca' a 19.3% chance of reaching the final. In the group stage, Madrid will face Saudi Al Hilal, Mexican Monterrey and Austrian RB Salzburg.
The other Spanish club that will play in the tournament, Atlético de Madrid, appears in eighth place among the favorites for the title, with 5.1%. Behind Real are Chelsea (8.4%) and Borussia Dortmund (5.4%). Juventus (3.6%) and Benfica (3.3%) complete the top 10.
