The opening of the 2025 Club World Cup featured a scoreless draw between Inter Miami and Al-Ahly (0-0). The match had one half for each team and the draw was fair given the lack of aim.
Inter Miami and Al-Ahly opened the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 with a goalless draw (0-0). Despite having Leo Messi, Luis Suárez and Sergio Busquets in their XI, Javier Mascherano's team failed to prevail against what, in theory, will be the least tough rival in the group.
Contrary to what many expected, the match had a dizzying pace from the start. Despite multiple inaccuracies in the transfer, both teams constantly sought the opponent's goal. The Egyptians, better positioned in the center of the field, had the best chances before the break.
However, neither of the two clubs could break the zero in the tournament's premiere. This Sunday, it is the turn of the first three European teams: Bayern (against Auckland), Porto (against Palmeiras) and the stellar duel between PSG and Atlético de Madrid.
Inter Miami resisted Al-Ahly's siege in the first half
Óscar Ustari was the great figure of the 'herons' in the first half, with at least five decisive interventions, including a saved penalty. Wessam Abou Ali was the first to test the Argentine goalkeeper's reflexes when only 8 minutes had passed.
The Egyptians lost Emam Ashour after the first quarter of an hour, due to injury, but continued to dominate the game. Abou Ali broke the zero in the 30th minute, but his goal was disallowed for a previous offside.
In the 41st minute, Zizo fell inside the area due to a push from Telasco Segovia. Although slight, the Venezuelan's contact was clear and the referee did not hesitate to ratify the penalty, without review in the VAR.
Trézéguet took charge of the shot, but announced his crossed shot a lot and Ustari stopped safely, guessing the side. The rebound fell to the Egyptian striker, but he could not finish with a volley.
PUT A STATUE IN MIAMI TO OSCAR USTARI 🤯

His scandalous first half could only end like this: saving a penalty 🔥

Notable improvement of Inter in the complement, but without prize
After the break, Javier Mascherano put Marcelo Weigandt in place of Tomás Avilés and Inter Miami improved significantly as the minutes passed. Tadeo Allende had the first clear opportunity for the locals in the 51st minute, while Leo Messi, with a free kick to the side of the net, touched the goal in the 64th minute.

Later, Benjamin Cremaschi would enter in place of Segovia, but the pink team was losing energy as the minutes passed. Al-Ahly was against the ropes for almost half an hour, but managed to resist the siege of those from Miami.
In the final stretch, the Egyptians, more physically whole, managed to settle again in the rival field. However, Inter ended the match overturned on the rival area, with a crossed shot from Messi that hit the crossbar.
On the second day, Al-Ahly will face Palmeiras, while Inter Miami will face Porto.
