Marc Guiu, the striker from Sant Celoni who came through La Masia, has reviewed the reasons that led him to leave FC Barcelona last summer. In an interview from the Spanish U-21 team's training camp, the current Chelsea player acknowledged that he would have liked to have had a conversation with Hansi Flick before leaving the Barça club.

"Maybe I could have played a bit more. Barça had other projects, with Lewandowski and the signing of Vitor Roque, and I didn't have much room there. But I would have liked Flick to have called me," explained the attacker, who left the Barça discipline after ten years of training in the youth ranks.

Marc Guiu: A Decade at La Masia and an Unforgettable Debut

Guiu experienced a period of meteoric growth in Barcelona's youth system. At just 17 years old, he debuted with the first team under Xavi Hernández, scoring a decisive goal against Athletic Club that became one of the great stories of the season.

"Xavi gave me everything, he brought me to the elite. I will always be grateful to him," said Marc Guiu.

From Barcelona to London: A Difficult Decision

The transfer of Guiu to Chelsea was finalized after the London team tripled the renewal offer that Barça had presented to him. "I wanted to try the Premier League, to live a new experience," commented the player, who made the leap to English football in search of minutes and international projection.

His first season with the 'Blues' was promising: he contributed to winning the Conference League and the Club World Cup. However, the lack of opportunities in the Premier League led him to leave on loan to Sunderland last summer, in search of continuity and playing time.

Delap's loan to Sunderland was cut short due to injury, forcing Chelsea to request his return. Guiu now faces a new opportunity at Stamford Bridge with the aim of establishing himself in the elite. "It's time to train hard, add minutes, and score goals," he said.

A Special Reunion on the Horizon

The calendar has determined that Marc Guiu will face Barça on November 25th, a match full of emotions for the forward. "It will be very special, Barça is my home and I will always be fond of them," he confessed.

The case of Marc Guiu reflects the difficulties that many young players from La Masia encounter when trying to break into the first team. The Catalan club continues to back emerging talent, although competition sometimes makes it difficult to get playing time.
