The 2024/25 season ended up being sweet for some and bitter for others. In that sense, two of the biggest figures in world football, Lamine Yamal and Vinicius Jr., have suffered changes in their market valuations, leaving one in a better position than the other.
Lamine Yamal consolidates himself as the most valued talent
The new '10' of FC Barcelona has become the footballer with the highest market value worldwide, reaching the figure of 200 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.
In this way, with just 18 years old, Lamine Yamal has managed to position himself above figures such as Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, in addition to Vini Jr., marking a milestone that reflects the unquestionable rise he is currently having.
Lamine is 20 M€ ahead of 'Kiki' (who experienced an increase of 10 million), the 'Android' and the English midfielder, all valued at 180 'kilos', leaving the Brazilian star in the fifth position of the ranking.
The rise in the value of 'LY' has been meteoric, as in June 2024 it went from costing 90 million to 120; in December it was already at 180 and now at 200. The growth of the right winger in the market is unprecedented for a player of his age.
However, the current valuation is not a surprise, since with the performance shown during the 2024/25 season it would not be logical for him not to raise his price. Yamal, in addition to conquering LaLiga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup, managed to score 18 goals and provide 25 assists in 55 matches.
Vinícius' fall: loses 30 million in his market valuation
The depreciation of Real Madrid's '7' has been more than noticeable, as in October 2024, he was at the top of the world market value ranking, reaching 200 million euros and consolidating himself as the most valued player on the planet.
However, nine months later —in July 2025— his position has taken a drastic turn, reflecting a significant change in the market's perception of his sporting figure.
As is evident, Vinicius lost 30 'kilos' in his valuation, a not insignificant figure, considering that he was one of the players who projected to remain at the top of the valuation. However, the past year, which was more than discreet for the 25-year-old player, seems to be starting to take its toll.
In this context, during the 24/25 season, Vinicius scored 22 goals and assisted on 18 occasions in 58 matches, but the season for Real Madrid ended in white, that is, without any title and being humiliated by Arsenal in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League and by Paris Saint-Germain in the same instance, but of the Club World Cup.
