Lewandowski will not travel with Poland for the matches against Moldova and Finland in the June FIFA window

Robert Lewandowski confirmed his absence with the Polish national team for the friendly against Moldova and the World Cup qualifier against Finland, both scheduled for the FIFA window to be played from June 2 to 10, just before the Club World Cup.

Through a brief message, the FC Barcelona striker and top scorer explained the reasons for his absence for the next two matches of his national team, where he is captain and top reference.

"Due to the circumstances and the intensity of the club season, the coach (Michal Probierz) and I have decided together that this time I will not participate in the concentration of the Polish national team in June", began the 36-year-old player.

Lewandowski will not play with Poland again, at least until September

In that sense, he added: "Playing in white and red has always been a dream come true for me, but sometimes the body gives a signal that it needs a temporary rest", added the Barça striker in his message.

For now, Robert has 85 goals and 35 assists with his country's senior team in 157 matches. The striker played in the World Cups in Russia and Qatar, as well as the last four editions of the European Championship.

Poland is currently first in the qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup, with two wins in as many appearances. On June 10, they will visit Finland, second with 4 points in a group that also includes the Netherlands, Lithuania and Malta.

Lewandowski will return with Barça in July after a well-deserved rest

In 24/25, Lewandowski accumulated a total of 3,930 minutes in 52 appearances with the Blaugrana team, adding 42 goals and 3 assists. The '9' was out for three weeks due to an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh that prevented him from closing the season at his best.

After the thrashing against Athletic (0-3), where he celebrated his hundredth goal with Barça, Robert was sincere about the impact of that injury in the last month of competition.

"I needed some time to return. As a team we have won titles and that for me is what is important. It has been an almost perfect season", the Pole pointed out.

In this way, 'Lewy' will start his vacations, waiting to return fully physically in mid-July to the culé preseason. The '9' has one more season of contract assured and, although he will turn 37 in August, he will start the 25/26 as the team's starting center forward, with Ferran Torres as his replacement.
