Barça could open its preseason with a friendly in Casablanca. Will Flick accept? Discover all the details of this possible million-dollar 'exhibition' game

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona, due to its sporting and media appeal —being one of the most important clubs in the world—, will probably be one of the most requested teams during these months without official competition. In turn, the fact that they will not participate in the new FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held from June 14th in the United States, increases their availability for friendly commitments.

In this sense, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana team has received a very attractive economic offer to play a friendly match in Morocco on July 20th, against a competitive-level opponent. This duel would be located just a few days before the start of the 2025/26 preseason tour of Asia.

CALENDAR AND KEY DUELS OF THE 2025/26 PRESEASON OF FC BARCELONA:

  1. Start of the preseason | Confirmed: July 13th
  2. Friendly vs. Vissel Kobe | Confirmed (Japan): July 27th
  3. Friendly vs. FC Seoul | To be confirmed (South Korea): July 31st
  4. Friendly vs. Daegu FC | To be confirmed (South Korea): August 4th
  5. Joan Gamper Trophy 2025 | Confirmed: August 9th or 10th

Friendly in Morocco? The decision is in the hands of Hansi Flick

The match in question would be held in Casablanca, although it is not yet clear whether the rival would be a local club —such as Raja Casablanca— or another renowned European team brought in especially for the occasion.

However, this possible duel is subject to a fundamental condition: the approval of coach Hansi Flick. The German coach, known for his meticulousness in matters of physical preparation and sports planning, will have the final say.

If he considers that the match does not interfere with the team's training plans, the friendly will take place. In addition, the trip would be logistically favorable, given that the journey between Spain and Morocco is short —approximately two hours of flight— and would allow a round trip without major complications.

Will Barça accept the proposal? A key income for signings

It remains to be seen what the final decision of the Catalan team will be. If they accept the proposal, as reported by MD, it would be a significant economic income that could be used to advance in strategic signings or renewals for the next season. Will FC Barcelona give the green light? Time will tell.
